Islamic Republic Day, also known as National Day, is a public holiday in Iran, and it is observed on 12th day of the month of Farvardin, the 1st month of the Islamic calendar, which is usually April 1 each year in the Gregorian calendar.
Islamic Republic Day marks the day when the results of the Iranian Islamic Republic referendum were announced in March 1979, two month after the victory of the Islamic Revolution. According the official results, 98.2% eligible citizens voted for the establishment of an Islamic republic in the state.
