Iranian Revolution

Iranian Revolution, also known as the Islamic Revolution, or the 1979 Revolution, is a public holiday in Iran, and it is observed on February 11 each year.

On February 1, 1979, Ayatollah Khomeini, the leader of the Iranian Revolution, returned back to Iran, and 10 days after, the Shah's rule was overthrown on February 11, 1979. The Islamic republic was established on April 1, 1979, and Ayatollah Khomeini became 1st Supreme Leader of the country in December 1979.
