Martyrdom of Imam Ali commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Ali, who is the son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad, and Fatimah's husband. Hazrat Ali's full name was Ali ibn Abi Talib, and he is important to both Sunnis and Shias: the two main sects within Islam.
