Martyrdom of Imam Ali

The Martyrdom of Imam Ali is a holiday in the Muslim community, and it falls on the 21st day of the month Ramadan in the Islamic calendar, which is usually April or May in the Gregorian calendar.

The Martyrdom of Imam Ali commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Ali, who is the son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad, and Fatimah's husband. Hazrat Ali's full name was Ali ibn Abi Talib, and he is important to both Sunnis and Shias: the two main sects within Islam. Sunnis consider Hazarat Ali the fourth Rashidun Caliph and Shia Muslims regard Hazarat Ali as the first Caliph and Imam after Muhammad.
