Victory Day (North Korea)

Victory Day is a public holiday in North Korea, and it is observed on July 27 each year. The holiday celebrates the anniversary when the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed on July 27, 1953, which brought a cease-fire to the Korea War.

The Korean War was fought between North Korea and South Korea. North Korea was supported by China and the Soviet Union, while South Korea was supported by the United Nations. The war began on June 25, 1950, when North Korea invaded South Korea, and it ended on July 27, 1953, with approximately 3 million war fatalities including many civilians.
