St. Cyril and St. Methodius are two brothers who were born in the 9th century in Greece. They both became missionaries when they grew up, and brought Christianity to the Slavic peoples of central Europe.
They created the Glagolitic alphabet to translate the Bible when they were in preparation for their mission to the Slavs, and because of their missionary work, they were recognized as saints.
