Declaration of Melaka as a Historical City, also known as Melaka Historical Day, is a public holiday in the state of Melaka (Malacca), Malaysia, and it is observed on April 15.
The state of Melaka was listed as one of the World Heritage Sites in 2008 by The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), together with George Town, due to the multicultural heritage. Melaka was one of the important trading ports in Southeast Asia many years ago but changed to a quiet city over time. In recent years, the city was revived and became a top-pick holiday getaway after UNESCO put it on the World Heritage List.
