The gazetted holiday is a holiday that is declared by the government. The gazetted holidays are mandatory holidays for government organizations as well as most private organizations.

Government offices, schools and banks are closed on gazetted holidays, so as to allow people have times to take breaks while not losing the pay and allowances.

The term "gazetted holiday" is typically used in countries that were formerly colonized by the British such as India and Singapore.

The gazetted holidays are different from the restricted holidays which are optional holidays.
