Dormition of the Mother of God, also known as Feast of the Dormition, is an important religious festival celebrated in the Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Eastern Catholic Churches. In Georgia, it is celebrated on August 28 each year (or August 15 in many other countries).
Dormition of the Mother of God commemorates the falling asleep or the death of Mary, the mother of Jesus. There are different ideas on the death and assumption of Mary.
