Chuseok

Chuseok, also known as Langkawi, is a public holiday in North and South Korea and is observed on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month of the traditional Korean calendar, which is a lunisolar calendar and changes each year in the Gregorian calendar.

Chuseok is one of the most important festivals scholars believe may originate from the ancient celebrations of the bountiful harvest moon. Chuseok is a holiday for the family union, and many people who work outside will return to their hometowns to meet families and friends.

Chuseok is also a festival for people to perform ancestral worship rituals, and people will visit and clean the area of the tombs of their immediate ancestors during the festival.

The celebration of Chuseok is a three-day holiday in South Korea and a one-day holiday in North Korea. Songpyeon and Hangwa are popular traditional Korean food that people eat during the festival.
