Armed Forces Day is a public holiday in Liberia, and it is observed on February 11 each year. Liberia is a country located in West Africa. The settlers declared independence and promulgated a constitution on July 26, 1847. Following its independence, Liberia became Africa's first independent modern republic.

The Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) is the armed force in Liberia, and it was formed in 1908 from a militia. In the early 19th century, there was a movement in the United States to settle free people of color in Africa due to racial discrimination. As a result, the American Colonization Society (ACS), formed in 1816, started sending free people of color to Liberia to establish a colony. When people arrived in Liberia, they formed a militia. Following the independence in 1847, the militia became the country's defense force.

On February 6, 1908, the Liberian Frontier Force (LFF) grew out of the militia and became the force to patrol the country's border. In 1956, the Liberian Frontier Force (LFF) was renamed the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL). The Armed Forces Day was established in 1957 to commemorate those serving in the military for the country's peace and prosperity.
