Chungmyung Day is a public holiday in North Korea, observed on April 4 or 5 each year. The holiday celebrates Hansik, the 105th day after the Winter Solstice, which is the day with the shortest day and longest night of the year. Chungmyung Day was proclaimed a national holiday in North Korea in 2010 by Kim Jong Eun, the 3rd Supreme Leader of North Korea.
Similar to the Chinese Qingmin Festival in China, during the holiday, people will go to family graves, clean up the graves and perform a ceremony. People will also spend time doing home repairs because spring is coming, and the weather is getting warm.
