St. Maron's Day

St. Maron's Day is a public holiday in Lebanon, and it is observed on February 9 each year.

Saint Maron, also Saint Maroun, was a Syriac Christian hermit monk who lived in the middle of the 4^th century. He was a priest and became a hermit after. Saint Maron became famous for his holiness and miracles. He started the ascetic-spiritual method, which attracted many followers, and was considered the Father of the spiritual and monastic movement.
