Lebanese Independence Day is a public holiday in Lebanon, and it is observed on November 22 each year. The holiday commemorates when Lebanon gained its independence from France in 1943.
Following the collapse of the Ottoman Empire after World War I, its five provinces, including current Lebanon, were under the control of France until 1946, when the last French troops withdrew from Lebanon.
