Radonitsa (Belarus)

Radonitsa is a public holiday in Belarus, and it is observed on the second Tuesday after Orthodox Easter each year.

In ancient times, the Slavs, similar to many other cultures, had a tradition of visiting family members' graves during the spring. They bring food and drink and feast with them beside the graves, similar to Memorial Day in Moldova.

After they were converted to Christianity, the tradition was kept with the new name of Radonitsa, which means "joy" and stems from the Christian belief in Jesus' Resurrection after his crucifixion. Radonitsa is a popular celebration in Eastern European countries where Orthodox Christianity is prevalent.
