Mother's Day (North Korea)

Mother's Day is a public holiday in North Korea, observed on November 16 yearly. The holiday commemorates the anniversary of the first National Meeting of Mothers in 1961 when Kim Il-sung delivered a speech on the Duty of Mothers in the Education of Children.

Kim Jong-un introduced Mother's Day Supreme Leader of North Korea when he came to power, and it became a national holiday in 2012 with the designated celebration date of November 16.
