Commemoration Day of King's Father is a public holiday in Cambodia, and it is observed on October 15 each year.
Commemoration Day of the King's Father commemorates the death anniversary of the current King's father: Norodom Sihanouk. He was born on October 31, 1922, and was first coronated as the King of Cambodia on May 3, 1941. He abdicated in 1955, but he was an active politician in Cambodia.
In 1970, he went into exile in China and North Korea after the Cambodian coup of 1970. On September 24, 1993, he signed the constitution into law, and the Kingdom of Cambodia was formally established. On the same day, he was reinstated as Cambodia's king.
He died of a heart attack on October 15, 2012 in Beijing, China.
