Anti-Fascist Struggle Day (Croatia)

Anti-Fascist Struggle Day is a public holiday in Croatia, and it is observed on June 22 each year.

Anti-Fascist Struggle Day marks the forming of the First Sisak Partisan Detachment on June 22, 1941, which was the first armed anti-fascist power in Yugoslavia against the forces of Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and the puppet state, the Independent State of Croatia during World War II.

The First Sisak Partisan Detachment was formed following the military collapse of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia as a result of the Axis invasion of Yugoslavia in 1941. It was the Communist-led anti-fascist resistance to the Axis powers in Yugoslavia. The Partisan Detachment was Europe's most significant anti-Axis power, and its members reached around 650,000 in 1944.

After World War II, the Yugoslav Partisans gained control of the country and were reorganized into the regular armed force of the newly established state.
