How Many Countries are Yugoslavia

Yugoslavia was a country in Southeast Europe and Central Europe that was formed in 1918 right after World War I. Later, it became the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1929. During World War II, the Axis powers invaded Yugoslavia. Josip Broz Tito led the National Liberation Army actively against the occupying forces, and gained the control of the country after the War.

In 1946, Yugoslavia became a communist government, and renamed it as the Socialist Federal Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) in 1963. The federal had 6 socialist republics: the SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, SR Croatia, SR Macedonia, SR Montenegro, SR Serbia, and SR Slovenia.

On June 25, 1991, Slovenia and Croatia declared independence from Yugoslavia. Since then, the country of Yugoslavia had been separated into 7 independent countries.
