Nativity of Our Lady (Liechtenstein)

Nativity of Our Lady is a public holiday in the Principality of Liechtenstein, and it is observed on September 8 each year. The holiday commemorates the birthday of the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Liechtenstein is a microstate located in the Alps between Austria and Switzerland, and it is one of the smallest countries in the world, with a population of about 39,000. Catholicism is the official state religion in Liechtenstein, and over 85% of the total population is Christian.

Mary's birth has been celebrated in churches since the sixth century. However, modern scripture does not account for Mary's birth. According to the Gospel of James, an apocryphal text in the second century, Saint Anne and Saint Joachim were Mary's parents.

Nativity of Our Lady is celebrated on September 8 in many churches, nine months after Immaculate Conception Day, celebrated on December 8.
