National Day is a public holiday in Taiwan, observed on October 10 each year. The holiday commemorates the start of the Wuchang Uprising on October 10, 1911, which marks the beginning of the Xinhai Revolution, also known as the 1911 Revolution.
The revolution lasted 4 months, from October 10, 1911, to February 12, 1912, and it led to the end of the imperial Qing Dynasty and the establishment of the Republic of China on January 1, 1912.
