Labor Day (Marshall Islands)

Labor Day is a public holiday in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and it is observed on the first Friday in September each year.

The Republic of the Marshall Islands is an independent island country in the Pacific Ocean, and it is a clan-based society that includes chiefs and commoners. The chiefs (irooj laplap) own the most power and are responsible for leading people in the work or in the wars. Below the chiefs are the clan heads (Alap), and they are responsible for supervising the daily activities.

The clan heads are supported by laborers (Rijerbal), who work on different jobs such as farming, cleaning, and construction. Labor Day is a holiday in honor of the laborers (Rijerbal) and their contributions to the islands in the Marshall Islands.
