Independence Day is a public holiday in the Swiss canton of Jura and it is observed on June 23 each year.
Independence Day in Jura commemorates the creation of the Jura canton. In 1978, the Swiss people voted for the split of Jura from the canton of Bern, and in 1979, Jura officially became the newest canton in the Swiss Confederation.
