Holidays in Armenia 2023

In 2023, Armenia has 12 public holidays, four of which fall on weekends.

New Year's Day
New Year Holiday is the first day of the year on the modern Gregorian calendar, and it is one of the most popular holidays in the world. The holiday has three days: December 31, January 1 and 2.

Armenian Christmas Day
Christmas Day is a holiday to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is a public holiday celebrated worldwide. Most Christians celebrate on December 25, but the holiday is observed on January 6 in Armenia.

Army Day
The holiday is in honor of the troops of the Armed Forces of Armenia, when it was established on January 28, 1992. It is observed on January 28, 2023.

International Women's Day
The holiday is one of the most important days to recognize women's achievements and raise awareness about women's equality. It is observed on March 8, 2023.

Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day
Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day is a public holiday in Armenia. The holiday is observed on April 24, 2023, and commemorates the victims of the Armenian genocide of 1915.

Labour Day
Labour Day is observed on May 1, 2023, and it celebrates the achievements of workers. The holiday originates in the eight-hour day movement, which is eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest.

Victory and Peace Day
Observed on May 9, 2023, the holiday commemorates the anniversary of the German Instrument of Surrender signing. It was a legal document effected the extinction of Nazi Germany and ended World War II in Europe.

Republic Day
Observed on May 28, 2023, the holiday commemorates the anniversary of when the First Armenian Republic was established in 1918.

Constitution Day
The holiday is observed on July 5, 2023, commemorates the anniversary of the Constitution's adoption on July 5, 1995.

Independence Day
The holiday commemorates the anniversary of when Armenia regained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, and it is observed on September 21, 2023.
