First Day of Summer (Iceland)

First Day of Summer is a public holiday in Iceland, and it is observed on the first Thursday after April 18 each year.

First Day of Summer celebrates the start of the first summer month of the old Icelandic calendar, which has 12 months: 6 months of short days and 6 months of nightless days. The first summer month is Harpa, which is from about the middle of April to middle May.
