Festival of San Salvador (El Salvador)

Festival of San Salvador is a public holiday in El Salvador, and it is observed on August 6 each year.

San Salvador is the capital and the largest city in EI Salvador. When Spanish adventurer Pedro de Alvarado conquered El Salvador, he named the territory after Jesus Christ. Later, he extended the province and named the Provincia De Nuestro Señor Jesus Cristo, El Salvador Del Mundo (the Province of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the World), which was shortened as El Salvador (The Saviour). Meanwhile, the capital was named San Salvador (Holy Saviour).

The Festival of San Salvador is a festival dedicated to Jesus Christ, the patron of El Salvador, and the festival celebrations usually started on August 1 and last a week until August 6.
