Constitution Day is a public holiday in Ukraine, and it is observed on June 28 each year.
Constitution Day commemorates the anniversary of the Constitution of Ukraine being approved on June 28, 1996. The constitution is the most important legal document which contains the basic personal rights and obligations in the political, economic, social, and cultural areas.
Ukraine declared its independence from the Soviet Union on August 24, 1991, and the 1996 Constitution marked the formation of Ukraine as a new democratic and independent state.
