Bengali New Year

Bengali New Year, or Pahela Baishakh, Bangla Noboborsho, is a regional holiday in the states of West Bengal and Tripura, India on April 14 or 15 each year, and a public holiday in Bangladesh on April 14.

Bengali New Year is based on the classical Hindu solar calendar and marks the first day of the harvest season.

Hindu New Year has varied names across the states: Vaisakhadi in Punjab, Vishu in Kerala, and Bohag Bihu in Assam.
