Auckland Anniversary Day was originally celebrated in the historic Auckland Province, New Zealand, which was abolished in 1876. In the Northland region, it is named Northland Anniversary Day.

Auckland Anniversary Day celebrates the arrival of William Hobson in the Bay of Islands in 1840, who later became the first governor of New Zealand.
