Sette Giugno is a public holiday in Malta on June 7 yearly.
Sette Giugno commemorates the events when British troops fired into the crowd during the riots in 1919. Following World War I, the cost of living in Malta increased dramatically because the imports were limited, and people's income could not keep up with the cost of living. Uprisings demanding higher salaries started due to Malta's unsatisfactory nature of economic and political life.
Sette Giugno is "Seventh of June" in Italian. British troops fired into the crowd during the June 7 uprising in 1919. Four people were killed, and 50 people were injured.
