National Prayer Day (Central African Republic)

National Prayer Day is a public holiday in the Central African Republic, and it is observed on June 30 each year.

The Central African Republic is a landlocked country in central Africa. It is among the poorest countries in the world, with low GDP per capita and a low level of human development.

The Central African Republic gained its independence from France on August 13, 1960; however, the country was not stable with coups and wars in the following many years. David Dacko became the first president in 1960. He was overthrown in 1966 in a coup led by Jean-Bédel Bokassa, who became the second president and named himself Emperor Bokassa I in 1976. France overthrew Bokassa and restored Dacko in 1979, but Dacko was overthrown again in 1981. The Central African Republic began the civil war in 2004 to the present, although there was a short peaceful time from 2007 to 2012.

National Prayer Day is a day for all people in the Central African Republic, regardless of ethnicity, religion, and politics, to unite to pray for the peace and prosperity of the nation.
