National Day is a public holiday in Kuwait, and it is observed on February 25 each year.
National Day commemorates the anniversary of the coronation of Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, the eleventh ruler of Kuwait. He was born in 1895 and took power after the death of his cousin in 1950.
He won Kuwait's independence from the British Empire in 1961 and is regarded as modern Kuwait's founder.
