Mothers' Day (Syria)

Mothers' Day is a public holiday in Syria, observed on March 21. The holiday is in honor of motherhood. People celebrate Mothers' Day in different forms and on different days worldwide. The original celebration can be trackback to the ancient Greeks and Romans, while the modern Mother's Day celebrations started in the United States in the early 20th century.

Modern Mother's Day was first celebrated in 1907, when Anna Jarvis, the founder of Mother's Day in the United States, held a memorial for her mother, and the holiday was observed in most states in 1909. Other countries then adopted it.

The modern celebration in the Arab world started in Egypt. The journalist Mustafa Amin observed the American Mother's Day tradition and introduced the concept to Egypt. His attempts did not succeed in the early years until the first official celebration in 1956. The tradition soon spread to other Arab countries, including Syria.

Mothers' Day is a chance for children to tell their mom how much they love and appreciate her in many different ways, such as through presents, flowers, cards, and meals.
