How to Insert a Fraction in Word

When working with a word file about math, sometimes you may need to insert a fraction. Different from Excel where you can directly enter a fraction or you can format a number into a fraction, you will need the steps below to insert a fraction, which is very similar to the steps inserting an equation in the word file.

Step 1: Click the "Insert" tab from the ribbon;

Step 2: Click "Equation" in the "Symbols" section;

Step 3: In the "Design" tab from the ribbon, click "Fraction" and then select one of the styles;

Step 4: Click the "Numerator" and type the numbers or formulas for the numerator; if you need to type the number Pi (π), please refer to the post how to insert the number Pi (π);

Step 5: Click the "Denominator" and type the numbers or formulas for the denominator;

Step 6: In case you need to have a mixed fraction, please move the cursor to the front and type the integer first then perform step 4 and 5.
