Independence Day
Independence Day, observed on July 28 and July 29, 2025, commemorates the day when Peru gained its independence. On July 28, 1821, General San Martín proclaimed Peru's independence. In Peru, the two days together are called Fiestas Patrias, one of the most important celebrations of the year.
Santa Rosa de Lima
Santa Rosa de Lima was born in Lima on April 20, 1586, and devoted her life to God and started to pray and fast secretly when she was young. She died on August 27, 1617, at 31. Pope Clement X canonized her as a saint in 1671. Her feast day was celebrated on August 30, 2025.
Battle of Angamos
The holiday, observed on October 8, 2025, was a naval battle between the navies of Chile and Peru at Punta Angamos on October 8, 1879. The battle became a decisive moment in the War of the Pacific between Chile and the allied countries of Peru and Bolivia. The battle was a complete success for the Chilean Navy.
All Saints' Day
All Saints' Day is observed on November 1, 2025, and commemorates all the saints from Christian history, including those known and unknown.
Immaculate Conception
The holiday is observed on December 8, 2025, and it celebrates the Virgin Mary has been free of original sin from the moment of her conception.
Christmas Day
