Hari Raya Haji

Hari Raya Haji, also known as Eid al-Adha, is an important religious festival celebrated by Muslims. It falls on the 10th day of Zulhijjah, which is the 12th month in the Islamic calendar.

Hari Raya Haji commemorates the willingness of the prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God's command. Hari Raya Haji lasts for three days. However, in the Islamic calendar, a new day starts at the dawn of the day, so the festival crosses 4 days in the Gregorian calendar. The celebrations vary in different countries, but they can last anywhere from two to four days.

Hari Raya Haji is one of the core Islamic holidays of the Islamic faith. As known as the Festival of Sacrifice, it is a time to show deep appreciation and personal sacrifice. Many Muslims make donations to charities and help those in need during the holiday, and it is a great opportunity to show graciousness and a connection to God.

Some Muslims go to the holy land Mecca in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj when Eid al-Adha starts, and many others who cannot make the trip to Mecca celebrate where they live by going to the mosques for special prayers and by enjoying the meals and celebrations with families and friends.
