Czechoslovak Independent Day is a public holiday in the Czech Republic, and it is observed on October 28 each year.

Czechoslovak Independent Day celebrates the birth of independent Czechoslovakia when it was declared its independence from Austria-Hungary on October 28, 1918.

Austria-Hungary was a constitutional monarchy that was formed in 1867 in the central Europe. Czechoslovakia has long been a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire until the empire was defeated and dissolved in the World War I.
