National Flag and Anthem Day (Curaçao)

National Flag and Anthem Day is a public holiday in Curaçao, and it is observed on July 2 each year. The holiday commemorates when the national flag was officially adopted in 1984.

Curaçao flag has a blue field, a horizontal yellow stripe, and two white five-pointed stars. The blue symbolizes the sea and sky, while the yellow stripe stands for the sun. Friar Radulphus first wrote the anthem lyrics in 1898, and Friar Candidus Nouwens composed the current melody in the 1930s. However, the anthem lyrics were modified before it was officially adopted in 1978.
