25 January Revolution (Egypt)

25 January Revolution is a public holiday in Egypt, and it is observed on January 25 each year.

25 January Revolution commemorates the beginning of the Egyptian Revolution on January 25, 2011, which was an uprising consisted of demonstrations, marches and strikes by millions of protesters from various backgrounds, and demanded the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak.

Hosni Mubarak was an Egyptian military and political leader, who was born on May 4, 1928 and died on February 25, 2020. He served as the 4th president of Egypt from 1981 to 2011. During the last few years of his presidency, there were social, economic and political issues including police brutality, corruption and high unemployment etc., and the protesters' primary demands were to end the Mubarak regime.

The uprising lasted for 18 days and Mubarak resigned as president on February 11, 2011.
