Statehood Day is a public holiday in Serbia, observed on February 15 and 16 yearly. The holiday commemorates the anniversary of the First Serbian Uprising in 1804 and the first modern Serbian Constitution in 1835.
The First Serbian Uprising was an uprising against the Ottoman Empire from 1804 to 1813. The revolution ended over 300 years of Ottoman rule in Serbia and resulted in recognition of Serbia by the Ottoman Empire.
