Statehood Day is a public holiday in Serbia, and it is observed on February 15 and 16 each year.
Statehood Day commemorates the anniversary of the First Serbian Uprising in 1804 and the first modern Serbian Constitution in 1835.
The First Serbian Uprising was an uprising against the Ottoman Empire that took place from 1804 to 1813. The revolution ended over 300 years' Ottoman rule in Serbia, and resulted in the recognition of Serbia by the Ottoman Empire.
