St. Joseph the Worker (Vatican City)

St. Joseph the Worker is a public holiday in Vatican City, and it is observed on May 1 each year.

There are two feast days for Saint Joseph. The first one is St. Joseph Day, which is celebrated on March 19 commemorating Saint Joseph being Mary's husband and foster father of Jesus. The second is St. Joseph the Worker, observed on May 1 celebrating Saint Joseph being the Worker.

St. Joseph is the husband of the Virgin Mary and fosters the father of Jesus Christ. He was willing to follow whatever God asked him. He followed God and took Mary as his wife even when he found Marry was pregnant and knew the child was not his. In a dream, an angel told him that the baby is from the Holy Spirit, and he will save his people from their sins.

He gave care to Virgin Mary and Jesus, and also worked as a carpenter during his career. Pope Pius XII emphasized Saint Joseph's hard work and instituted the feast of Saint Joseph the Worker in 1955 to respond to the Labour Day celebrations for workers.
