Sinai Liberation Day

Sinai Liberation Day is a public holiday in Egypt, and it is observed on April 25 each year.

Sinai Liberation Day celebrates the anniversary of the liberation of the Peninsula of Sinai from Israeli occupation in 1982. Israel captured the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt in 1967 during the Six-Day War, fought between Israel and Jordan, Syria, and Egypt.

The Egyptians kept struggling to regain it, and in 1982, Egypt recovered the Peninsula of Sinai through the peace treaty signed in 1979 between Egypt and Israel. The last Israeli soldier left the city of Taba in 1988.
