How to Show or Hide Formatting Marks in Word

Microsoft Word contains many formatting marks to show the text layouts of documents. You might find these formatting marks useful to you when you design your word document. By default, these formatting marks are hidden to make your reading smoothly. Please see below to show or hide the formatting marks:

Step 1: Click the "Home" tab from the ribbon;

Step 2: Click the formatting symbol icon in the "Paragraph" section.

Step 3: You will see a different page similar to below.

If you expect some formatting symbols, but they do not appear, you may need to activate them first.

Step 1: Click the "File" tab from ribbon;

Step 2: Choose "Options" from the menu on the left;

Step 3: Click "Display" from the navigation bar;

Step 4: Check the formatting symbols and click "OK" at the bottom.
