Shavuot, also known as the Feast of Weeks or Pentecost, is a public holiday in Israel, and it is observed on the 6th day of the Hebrew month of Sivan in Israel.
Shavuot is one of the 3 major Pilgrimage Festivals: Pesach, Shavuot, and Sukkot. Shavuot marks two religious observances: the wheat harvest in the Land of Israel, and the anniversary of the giving of the Torah by God to the Israelites at Mount Sinai.
The celebration of Shavuot occurs on the 50th day (or 49 days after) of the Exodus from ancient Egypt, and therefore, the holiday is also called Pentecost by the Greeks.
