How to Set Default Message Order in Gmail

By default, the messages in Gmail are from newest to oldest. The new messages are at the top of the list. However, you can change to another order such as starred message first or important messages first.

Step 1: Log in your Gmail account (please refer here to open one if you do not have an account yet);

Step 2: In the Gmail account, click the "Setting" button from the right-top corner;

Step 3: Click the "See all settings" command from the drop-down list;

Step 4: Click the "Inbox" tab in the settings menu;

Step 5: In the "Inbox type" section, select one order from the drop-down list;

Step 6: In the next window, set up the important rules, for example, show up to 10 items;

Step 7: Move to the bottom of the page and click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom.
