Queen's Birthday (Montserrat)

Queen's Birthday is a public holiday in Montserrat, and it is observed on the Monday following the second Saturday in June each year. The holiday is to celebrate the birthday of the monarch. However, the date is the Queen's official birthday, which may not be the monarch's actual birthday.

Montserrat is a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. Christopher Columbus first passed the island in 1493 during his second voyage. About 100 years after, Irishmen from Saint Kitts started to settle in Montserrat, and in the late 1660s, the British Empire occupied the island.

Queen's Birthday celebration first started in 1788, marking the birthday of the King of Great Britain, and it was observed on the actual birthday in the beginning and changed to the second Monday in June 1936 after King George V died.

Queen's Birthday was changed to King's Birthday in 2023.
