Puducherry Liberation Day is a regional holiday in the Union Territory of Puducherry, India, and it is observed on November 1 each year.
Puducherry Liberation Day is to commemorate the anniversary when the French transferred Puducherry to India on November 1, 1954. On October 18, 1954, Puducherry became independent following a referendum. However, it was till August 16, 1962, Puducherry legally merged with India which is celebrated as De jure Transfer Day.
