People Power Revolution

The People Power Revolution, also known as the EDSA Revolution, is a special holiday in the Philippines, and it is observed on February 25 each year.

The People Power Revolution was a series of nonviolence revolutions against the regime violence and electoral fraud and it is the restoration of democracy in the Philippines. The revolutions mostly took place on the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (acronym EDSA) in Metro Manila from February 22 to 25, 1986.

In the 1986 presidential election , the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) declared Ferdinand Marcos was the winner, and the National Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL) declared Corazon Aquino was the winner. The election results led to the popular belief that the polls were tampered and considered an electoral fraud, which was supported by the later investigations.
