Maha Saptami is a restricted holiday in India, and it is the seventh-day celebration of the Hindu deity Durga Puja celebrations.
Durga Puja celebrates the victory of the goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura. It is the major festival of Hinduism and holds for 10 days in the month of Ashvina of the Hindu calendar, which falls in September and October in the Gregorian calendar.
