Liberation Day commemorates when the Czech Republic was liberated from Nazi Germany by the Allied forces on May 8, 1945, which also marks the end of World War II in Europe. It is called Victory Day in some countries.
On this day the German Instrument of Surrender was signed on May 8, 1945, at Berlin Time, and Nazi German armed forces surrendered unconditionally to the Allied forces.
