Lhabab Duchen

Lhabab Duchen is a Buddhist festival, and it is celebrated on the 22^nd day of the ninth lunar month according to the Tibetan calendar.

Lhabab Duchen is widely celebrated in Buddhist countries and is a festival commemorating the Buddha's descent from the Trayastrimsa heaven down to earth.

During the festival, followers throng to monasteries to light butter lamps and offer special prayers to Lord Buddha, monks and lamas read the holy scriptures. One of the most important activities is to place newly painted ladders on the rocks to symbolize the holy descent of Buddha.
